Murad III: Ottoman Sultan Who Save State Of Morocco.
Today, we will discuss about one Ottoman Sultan who save State Of Morocco from Portuguese Imperialist. He is Murad III, who ruled from 1574-1595 AD. Murad III, is successor from Ottoman Sultan Selim II. He, before becme sultan became Ottoman Governor at Manisa, Turkey. At 1574 AD, he became Ottoman Sultan replace Selim II.
At his time, Morocco lead by King from Sadi Dynasty, Mevlay Mohammad, Mevlay Mohammad held alliance with Kindom Of Spain, Ottoman Empire Enemy. Ottoman from long time, was held alliance with Sadi Dynasty/Banu Zaydan that have capital at Fez, Morocco and became ruler dynasty at Morocco. Ottoman Empire, help Sadi Dynasty for faced Spanish and Portuguese Expansions. But, Kingdom Of Spain under their king, Ferdinand Of Aragon, can occupied Morocco and Morocco pay tribute to Spain. Spain, can occupied several ports at Morocco.
Mevlay Mohammad , seeing Kingdom Of Spain weakened, held alliance with Kingdom Of Portugal. Abd Al- Malik, Mevlay Mohammad s uncle , can coup Mevlay Mohammad and became King Of Morocco. Abd Al-Malik held alliance with Ottoman Dynasty and Mevlay Mohammad held alliance with Kingdom Of Portugal under King Sebastian. Ottoman Empire under Sultan Murad III, send their commander, Ramazan Pasha for help Abd Al-Malik defeat his nephew, Mevlay Mohammad. At 1578 AD, Sebastian also came with 80.000 army and 800 artilery for defeat Ottoman-Morocco Coalition.
At 1578 AD, battle broke beetwen Ottoman-Morocco Alliance againt Portuguese Army at Seyl Vadi. Ottoman- Morocco Army defeat Portuguese Army and Sebastian die at this battle. Abd Al-Malik, became Sultan Of Morocco with Ottoman Empire s support. According Historian Mehmet Maksudoglu, if Kingdom Of Portugal can occupied Morocco, Morocco will Christenized and maybe became state with Portuguese Language.
Abd Al-Malik, only became Sultan Of Morocco for short time. At 1578 AD, same year with year of Battle Of Seyl Vadi, he die and replaced by his brother, Ahmad Al-Manshour. Ahmad Al-Manshour, also held alliance with Ottoman Empire.
According Historian Mehmet Maksudoglu, Ottoman Empire, at Murad III s time, can keep his coastal , but dont have enough power for faced Portuguese and Spanish Navy.
After save Morocco, Sultan Murad III, expand Ottoman Territories to Iran and Hungary. At 1577 AD, Safavid Dynasty at Iran, ruled by Hudabende and Hudabende open conflict with Ottoman Dynasty. At 1577 AD, Ottoman Army under Mustafa Pasha can captured many Safavid Commanders. Ottoman Army can occupied Safavid s territories, such as Tiflis and Shirvan at 1579 AD and Revan at 1583 AD. At 1593 AD, battle broke beetwen Ottoman Empire and Kingdom Of Austria. Ottoman Empire s Army, lead by Sinan Pasha and helped by Ottoman Vassal, King Of Crimea, Gazi Giray from Khanate Of Crimea, with 40.000 cavalries. Ottoman Army can occupied Castle Of Yaniqale , one important castle for Kingdom Of Austria and Otoman Army also occupied Bucharest and Tirgoviste.
Before his die, Sultan Murad III held big celebration for celebrated his son s circumision, Mehmed III. And, this celebration run for 40 days. At 1595 AD, Sultan Mehmed III, replace his father, Sultan Murad III became Ottoman Sultan.
