How Islam Spread At China? And How The Relation With Islam At Southeast Asia?

This sides really infrequently discuss at Islamic History. But, Islam in China has long history, from Age Of  Umayyad Dynasty until present. How Islam Spread At China? And How the relation with Islam In Southeast Asia? Lets discuss It.

Islam entered to China together with  Qutayba Ibn Muslim s expedition, he is Umayyad General  to Central Asia. Umayyad Governor At Iraq, Hajjaj Ibn Yusuf send Qutayba to Central Asia because this territories is “uncondusife”. Qutayba conquer some territories at Central Asia, included Tokharistan, Bukhara, and Samarqand. Beetwen 94-96 H, according the notes of Thabari, Qutayba conquer Land Of Kashgar, nearest city to China.

Chinese Emperor ( doesn’t mentioned his name) threaten Qutayba, he will attack Muslims Army, but he fear with Muslims Army s power and he terms with Qutayba. Unfortunately, Qutayba has been killed at rebellion.

At the Age Of Tang Dynasty at China, Islam entered peaceful by Arabian Merchants. At 713 AD,  messenger from Caliph Jafar  Al-Manshour came to Tang Palace. At756 ad, Caliph Jafar Al-Manshour help Tang Dynasty faced the rebellion of An Lun Shan with his messenger.  According Historian Ivan Taniputra, the messenger is origins of Muslim Community at China.

Arabian and Persian open trade interaction with Tang Dynasty since 651 AD.  At the Era Of Yuan Dynasty, A Mongol Dynasty who ruled China, Emperor Kubilai Khan is so respect to Muslims Civilian.  Ibn Batuta, A Muslim Traveler had visit China at this era and he report China was know paper money, coal, and ship.

At the Age Of Ming Dynasty,  Chinese Navy Under Zheng He ( Cheng Ho) visit  Nusantara Archipelago,  Zheng He went at 1405 AD,  Zheng He is an Muslims from Yunan,  He visited Malay Peninsula, Java, and Sumatra. Uniquely, name of Zheng He recorded at Cirebonese Chronichle, Carita Purwaka Caruban Nagari  (1720 AD)  that written by Prince Arya Carbon, according Carita Purwaka Caruban Nagari, Zheng he built mercusuar at Muara Jati, Cirebon, and with him , came an Islamic Scholar, Shaykh Qurro/ Shaykh Hasan An Din from Champa who built Islamic Boarding School at Karawang, Duke Of Muara Jati, Ki Gedeng Tapa, send his daughter, Nyai Subang Larang to studied in Shaykh Hasan Ad Din s boarding school, before she married with Raden Pamanah Rasa, who in future became King Of Sunda with title Prabu Siliwangi ( in Batutulis inscription written Sri Baduga Maharaja Ratu Haji Ing Pakuan Pajajaran)

Carita Purwaka Caruban Nagari  recorded, Sunan Gunung Jati, grandson of Prabu Siliwangi, married with Chinese Princess From Ming Dynasty, Ong Tien Nio.

Raden Patah, founder of Demak Sultanate, is son from Prabu Kertabumi, King Of Majapahit and his wife from China. Raden Patah raised by Arya Damar, Majapahit Ruler At Palembang.

 Chinese Chronichles from  Semarang Temple tell us that Arya Damar is Chinese  Descedant and he is son from King Of Majapahit, Hyang Wisesa and his wife from China.

Chinese Chronichles from Talang Temple, Cirebon record that Islamic Leader at Sembung, Cirebon also Chinese, he is Tan Eng Hoat. Tan Eng Hoat mentioned as Assistant Of Cirebon Palace.  Tan Eng Hoat mentioned preached at Sunda s  Inland.  Mentioned, he burried at Garut, West Java.

Relation beetwen Chinese and Southeast Asia in the past really Is factor spreaded of Islamic Faith at Indonesia, special at Java. In the next article, we will discuss about Ethnic Of Uyghur specially.
