Kilic Ali: Forgotten Muslim Sailors From Italy

soccer player and beautiful his cities such as Rome, Firenze, and other. But,
Italy have Islamic Hero that maybe not popular at modern society. Maybe Khair
Addin Barbarossa more popular than this hero. But, his role is very important

He is came from Calabria, Italy, at
1536 AD, he prisoned by Ottoman Navy when Ottoman Navy attack South Coastal Of
Italy. His father is Italian Sailor. His original name is Geovanni Dionigi
Galeni. But, after associate with Muslims at Turkey, he convert to Islam and
after convert to Islam, his name replaced by Aluj/Kilic Ali. He became
commander from ship s crew under Admiral Khair Addin Barbarossa, for biography

Kilic Ali participated at several
sea battle at Sea Of Mediterrania. He participated at Expedition to Sicilia, he
became Governor Of Tlemcen, Algeria. At
1551 AD, he participated at Conquest Of Tripoli from Knight Of Hospitaller.
Kilic also participated at Siege Of Malta
at 1565 AD, Ottoman Navy moved to Malta for conquer this island from Knight Of
Hospitaller. This navy directed by Commander Turgut ( Dragut) Reis. According
Historian Harold Lamb, Ottoman Army bring 4.500 Janissary ( Ottoman Elite
Infantry), 7.500 Sipahi ( cavalry) without
horse . Knight Of Hospitaller at Malta only established from 500 knights and 1.300
mercenaries. Ottoman Army besieged Knight Of Hospitaller s fortress at Malta,
and Turgut die at this battle. Commander
of Hospitaller Knight, La Valette, succeded insist Ottoman Army from the
castle, and Crusader Army from Sicily entered Castle Of Malta for helped Knight
Of Hospitaller. Kilic Ali replaced
Turgut s position and became new leader from Ottoman Navy. Kilic succeded bring
back Ottoman Navy from Malta.
Kilic Ali also tried captured Spain
from Christian Kingdom Of Spanish that captured it from Muslim Goverment and
persecute remnant of Muslim at Spain. At Spain, broke Muslim rebellion under
Muhammad Ibn Umayya, Kilic Ali send 40 warships to Port Of Almeira, Spain. His army establihed with Algerian and Ottoman
Army, that numbered 14.000 Ottoman Army and 60.000 Algerian Army. His army
attack Coastal Of Spain and hundred
Ottoman Army entered Spain. But, Ottoman Caliph, Salim II, call Kilic Ali for
joined Ottoman Navy for faced European Coalition at Battle Of Lepanto.
At 1571 AD, Ottoman faced European
Coalition at Lepanto that established by
Vatican, Spanish, and State Of Venice, and also Knight Of Hospitaller. Kilic
Ali became leader of right wing of Ottoman Army, at this battle, Ottoman Army
suffered defeated, but Kilic Ali succeded save remnant of Ottoman Ship and
captured Command Ship from Knight Of Hospitaller. But, at this battle, Ottoman
Navy destroyed.
Caliph Salim II appointed Kilic Ali
as Ottoman Admiral. Kilic build Ottoman Navy from zero, and prepared big navy
that established by 133 warships. At 1572
AD, Venice bring their navy to attack Ottoman territories. But, Kilic Ali bring
Ottoman Navy to faced Venice. Venice agree peace treatment
with Ottoman Empire at 1573 AD. At 1573 AD, Kilic Ali lead Ottoman Army to
liberate Tunisia from Spanish Colonization,
and Tunisia back to Ottoman Army s reign. Kilic Ali also send Ottoman
Army to help Kingdom Of Morocco faced Portuguese Army at Battle Wadil Makhazin (
1578 AD). At this battle, Portuguese defeated by Ottoman-Morocco coalition.
At 1587 AD, Kilic Ali die and he
