Lebanon: Classic History From This Forgotten Land.

Maybe, Lebanon not popular at Islamic History. People maybe focuss about History Of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Syria, and other state at Near East.  Today, we will discuss about History Of Lebanon at Islamic Civilization. What privilege from this small land at Levant that forgotten from history? Lets discuss itand subscribe my blog for more information about Islamic History. Lebanon, is Byzantine Territories before Islam s arrival. When broke conflict beetwen Rashidun Caliphate and Byzantine Empire, Islam entered Lebanon.  At 7 TH Century, Rashidun Army conquer several cities at Lebanon, such as Beirut, Tyre, and Sidon. And also two important city: Latakia and Tripoly. Tripoly conquered at 644 AD, at era of Caliph Uthman Ibn Affan. Islamic Historian Baladhuri, recorded , at Era Of Rashidun Caliphate, City Of Shur ( Tyre) at Lebanon conquered by Muslim Commander, Sharahbil, who also conquest Acre nd Sephoria at Palestine.

City Of Tripoly,  became one Islamic Navy Basic at Rashidun Caliphate Era.  Greek Historian, Theopanes, recorded at 655 AD, City Of Tripoly became starting point for Rashidun Navy for attack Constantinople and this navy lead by Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan. And, this is happened  of Battle Of Dhat Shawari ( Battle Of Masts), first sea battle that win by Muslim Navy. For Battle Of Masts, you can read at this article:

At Umayyad Dynasty Era, Lebanon became territories that  grabs by Umayyad Dynasty and Byzantine Empire. Being Umayyad Invasion at Constantinople 716-718 AD, Byzantine Emperor, Artemios, send Byzantine Navy to attack Lebanon and rob wood assets, that became prime material from Muslims warships. But, Artemios ousted by a rebels and this expedition failed. One Umayyad Caliph, Hisham ( ruled 723-741 AD),  build Islamic Navy  Base at Tyre, Lebanon and build fortress at Tyre. Tyre became one seaport for Islamic Caliphate at this time.  At 861 AD, Caliph Al-Mutawakkil from Abbasid Dynasty moved Muslims Seaport to City Of Acre, Palestine, but Tyre  still became prime fortress at Islamic Territories. At 11 TH Century, Lebanon moved from hand of Seljuq Dynasty to Fathimid Dynasty alternated.

At 1109 AD, Crusader under their commander, Bertrand, captured City Of Tripoly and this city fall to Crusader Hand. Tripoly, became one Crusaders Colony at Levant, with Kingdom Of Jerusalem, Kingdom Of Antioch, and Kingdom Edessa.  Crusader destroy big library at City Of Tripoly. At Third Crusade, exactly at 1190 AD, after conquer Jerusalem at 1187 AD, Saladin tried to conquer City Of Tyre, Lebanon. But, this mission failed because Crusader under Conrad De Montferrat, Crusader Commander at Tyre, was strengthen City Of Tyre defense. Lebanon, exactly Tyre and Tripoly, re conquered by Muslims Power from Crusader at Mameluke Dynasty Era. At 1285 AD, Mameluke Dynasty under Sultan Manshour Qalawun conquer City Of Tripoly, Lebanon and at age of his son, Khalil, Mameluke Dyasty conquer Tyre, Beirut, and Sidon from Crusader at 1291 AD.  Unfortunately, Mameluke Dynasty s building at Lebanon  uneven. Moroccan Traveler, Ibn Bathuta, who visit Lebanon at age of Mameluke Dynasty (14 TH Century) recorded City Of Sidon is very good and rich. But City Of Tyre only  debris and little village.  Tripoly, according Ibn Bathuta is city that have good baths.
