Amr Ibn Al-Jamuh: Disabled Hero.

Today,  we will discuss about one of disable shahaba. He is Amr Ibn Al-Jamuh. His story maybe not long, but leave deep messages for us. Ok, lets read this article until end and subscribe my blog for more information about Islamic History.

Amr Ibn Al-Jamuh, is one from Pagan at Medina. He is one of Arab Nobleman. At Pre-Islamic Era, Arab Nobleman usually have private statue for pray to statue. Amr has private statue, named Manat, as his god. Amr Ibn Al-Jamuh has oldman when Islam entered Medina. Amr has wife named Hindun and three sons: They are Muawwidz, Muadz, and Khallad. His wife and son convert to Islam because preach from one Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba, Mushab Ibn Umair. Amr s son still younger and they also friends with one of Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba, Muadz Ibn Jabal.  When  Amr was oldman, he is disable because one from his foots is limp.

Amr angry know his wife and three sons  convert to Islam. He forbid his sons meet with Muadz Ibn Jabal. He call Muadz Ibn Amr, his oldest son and ask what teach by Mushab Ibn Amr. Muadz Ibn Amr read QS.Al-Fatihah: Verses 1-7 in front of Amr. Amr said he will discuss it with Manat, his statue and his god.

Amr s son with Muadz Ibn Jabal , at the night time, for many time, throw Manat to rubish s place. Amr angry, until Amr give sword to Manat and ask him to defend himself. But, one night, Muadz Ibn Jabal with Amr s son bind Manat with carcass of dog and throw it to rubish place. Amr convert to Islam, after know , his god cannot defend himself.

At 3 TH Years Of Hijriyya, Pagan Quraish want attack Medina, Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s basic and they send 3000 warriors. Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam faced them with 950 warriors.  Amr joined this battle with his sons and he die when he protect Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam from Pagan Quraish attack. He die with his son, Khallad. Amr join the battle and fight with brave, though his legs is limb and he only has one normal leg. After the battle, Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  bury Amr Ibn Jamuh with Abdullah Ibn Amr ( not his son, but his friend).

From this story, we can learn, disability not hindrance for achieve success. Amr can became martyr at Battle Uhud, and protect Rasulullah. It is lesson for us. We must achieve success, though we has disability.
