Abu Ayyub Al-Anshari : Shahaba Who Die At Constantinople

Conquest Of Constantinople, is one from highest Islamic Conquest that doing by Sultan Mehmed II / Muhammad Al-Fatih at 1453 AD. But, Conquest Of Constantinople was doing by Muslim Dynasty before Ottoman Caliphate. One from them is Umayyad Dynasty under Yazid Ibn Muawiyya. At this battle, one from Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba die , Abu Ayyub Al-Anshari, die as martyr at this battle.

Abu Ayyub has original name Khalid Ibn Zaid Ibn Kulaib. He is originated from Anshar ( Native Of Medina). He is came from Bani Najjar. He is one from Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba and his house at Medina became stopover for Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Abu Ayyub is richman. He has luxury hoyse with two floor and many rooms. When Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam moved from Mecca to Medina, Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam stay at house of Abu Ayyub. When Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam sleep at his house and this night is so cold. One of water laver at above floor broke and this water spill. Abu Ayyub use his blanket-that his house only exist one blanket- for  hold this water from Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. After mosque at Medina finish builded, Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam moved to mosque s rooms that avaible for his wifes.

After this, Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam , usually, came to Abu Ayyub Al-Anshari s house. And, Abu Ayyub Al-Anshari give Rasulullah Shallahu Waalaihi Wasallam food, included palmfruit and lamb. Also, Abu Ayyub serve breat- prime food at Arabia- for Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam also give Abu Ayyub house assistant for help him doing houseworking. He is an slave. But, Abu Ayyub choose liberate him from slavery.

Abu Ayyub join all Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s battles. Under at Umayyad Era, he join trial for Conquer Constantinople under Commander Yazid Ibn Muawiyah. This expedition held at Umayyad Dynasty Era, at 669 AD,Caliph Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan send army to Constantinople, lead by his son, Yazid Ibn Muawiya and Fadhallah Ibn Ubayd Al-Anshary. Umayyad Army besieged Constantinople, Capital Of Byzantine Empire. Byzantine, lead by Emperor Constantine IV ( 668-685 AD). Battle beetwen Umayyad Army and Byzantine Army broke under Constantinople s wall. At this battle, Abu Ayyub , who was 80 years old, die because sick. He ask Muslims Army to burried him under Wall Of Constantinople. Muslims Army burried Abu Ayyub Al-Anshari

From story of Abu Ayyub Al-Anshari, we can learn, respect to guest is one important point at Islamic Teaching. Abu Ayyub respect to Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam who became guest at his house. And, second, Abu Ayyub fight at Allah s way, when he was very old. From this story, not exist word ‘late’ for fight at Allah s way.
