Piri Reis: Ottoman Sailor Who Mapped Continent Of America.

Maybe we know name of Cristopher Columbus as Inventor Continent Of America. But, before this, exist Islamic Sailor who draw map from Continent Of America, and he come from Turkey. Yes, he is Piri Reis, Ottoman Sailor who draw Map Of America before Columbus. How this character role on the history? He born with name Muhidin Piri, son from Haji Mehmed Piri,  and he educated by his uncle, Kemal Reis, at cartography.  He join Ottoman Navy and participated at several battle with his uncle.

Kemal Reis is Ottoman Admiral at age of Sultan Bayezid II Veli ( ruled 1481-1512 AD), son from Sultan Mehmed II Al-Fatih.  When Muslim at Spain oppressed by Kingdom Of Spain ( Castille), Sultan Bayezd II Veli send Kemal Reis to Coastal Of Spain, and he save several Muslim Refuuges, that he bring at North Africa. Kemal Reis also occupied Islands Of Balearic, Sardinia, and Pianosa at 1501 AD.

But, at 1511 AD, Kemal Reis die because his ship sink at the sea. Piri Reis back to Gallipoli for study navigation and geography. He also became Ottoman Navy s commander at Indian  Ocean and Egypt. Piri Reis joined expedition againt Portuguese Navy who want sacked tomb of Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s tomb.

Piri Reis, according Shaykh Jihad Turbani, is Islamic Intelectual at this era. He can speak with Greek, Spanish, and Portuguese language, and he also do several research at Geography. Unfortunately, information about his biography at Ottoman History Sources is so little. But, at 1465 AD, he draw Map Of America , from Islands Of  Carribean to River Of Amazon.

Pire Reis also participated as warrior at Ottoman Mission to Spain, for liberate Spanish Muslims from Christian Kingdom Of Spain s colonization. Piri Reis is one of Ottoman Writter,he write a book about history and America s geography, titled Kitab I Bahriye, Kitab I Bahriye is a book that narrated Spanish Expedition at America and notes about sailorship at Sea Of Mediterrania. He present his book to Caliph Sulaiman Al-Qanuni, Greatest Ottoman Caliph.

Piri Reis s maps included Continent Of Asia, Continent Of America, and Continent Of Africa. His map finded at 1929 AD at Topkapi Palace, Istanbul. After Piri Reis s book, two Ottoman Writter write about Continent Of America at their books. One of them write Tarikh Hindi  I Garbi, about Spanish Expedition at America and also zoology and botany at America.

At 1965 AD, Piri Reis s maps discussed at several seminars, and all geographical expert agree it is incredible invention at the world.Unfortunately, at 1554 AD, Pire Reis die because executed by Caliph Sulaiman I, according Historian Ahmet Kuru, because political intrics.
