Jafar Ibn Abi Thalib: Hero From Battle Of Muktah.
Today, we will discuss about Jafar Ibn Abi
Thalib, one Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba who die
at Battle Of Muktah, first Muslim Battle againt Byzantine Empire, as hero. And,
he also included several people who for the first time, convert to Islam and
join Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam moved to Habasya ( Ethiopia)

Jafar, is son from Abu Thalib, Propeth
Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s uncle and brother from Ali Ibn Abi
Thalib. Differents age beetwen him 10 years , Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi
Wasallam s cousin and son in law. When Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam
preach Islam at 7 TH Century, Jafar and his wife, Asma bintu Umays, convert
to Islam and with several shahaba, moved to Ethiopia because Pagan Quraish at
Mecca disturb Muslim Society that new flow at Mecca.
Several shahabas moved to Ethiopia at 615
AD. At this time, Ethiopia lead by Christian King, King Negus ( Arabian Sources
called him Najasyi). . At this time, Pagan Quraish at Mecca send Amr Ibn Ash ( at
this time, not yet convert to Islam )to meet King Negus, and ask Propeth
Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahabas repatriated to Mecca. But,
King Negus said: “No, before we know about their teaching”. King Negus call
Jafar Ibn Abi Thalib and several shahabas. King Negus ask them about their
faith, and they answer they are Muslims.
Happened interfaith dialog beetwen King Negus and Jafar Ibn Abi Thalib.
And, the theme from this dialog is Propeth Isa Alaihissalam according Islam and Christianity . King Negus
convert to Islam and hide his new religion because he fear if his people ousted
him because his new faith.
Jafar and his wife stay at Ethiopia for 10
years and at 625 AD, he came to Medina, that at this time was became Islamic
Goverment Center under Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi
Wasallam send several shahabas as preacher to Syria that became one main Byzantine Territories.
One preacher entered City Of Boshtra, Syria, and captured by Chief Of Ghassan,
one tribes that became Byzantine Subordinate at Syria. Propeth Muhammad Shallahu
Alaihi Wasallam send 3000 warriors to Syria under Commander Zayd Ibn
Thabit, if Zayd killed, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam ask
Jafar as commander. And, if Jafar killed,
he replaced by Abdullah Ibn Rawahah. According Muslim Historian
Ad-Dhahabi, name from this chief is Shurahbil Ibn Amr Al-Ghassani.
This battle, broke at 629 AD, according Greek
Historian Theopanes, Muslims Army attack Byzantine Garrisons at Muktah,
Jordania. According Muslim Historian
Ad-Dhahabi, Byzantine Emperor, Heraclius bring 100.000 Byzantine Army and
100.000 Allied Warriors. This allied warriors originated from Arabian Tribes
under Byzantine Supremacy. Propeth Muhammad s army, that numbered 3000
warriors, consist from Muslim and Jews at Medina. One Jews at this army is Numan Ibn Finhash Al-Yahudi. Battle broke at Village Of Muktah. Zayd Ibn
Haritha die and replaced by Jafar Ibn Abi Thalib . Jafar fight againt Byzantine
Army until die. Abdullah replaced him, but also die. Khalid Ibn Walid, replaced
Abdullah and he can bring Muslims Army back to Medina and doing flash attack to
