Abu Qasim Az-Zahrawi: First Surgery Doctor.

Today, we will discuss about first surgery doctor who born from Muslim at Spain. He is Abu Qasim Az-Zahrawi. And, Abu Qasim Az-Zahrawi is one main doctor at Spain at this time. Ok, please read this article until end and subscribe my blog for more information about Islamic History. His full name is Abu Qasim Khalaf Ibn Abbas Az-Zahrawi Al-Andalusi Al-Qurthubi. At western world, he popular as name Albucasis.  A-Zahrawi born at 936 AD and he die at 1013 AD. He life at Cordova, Spain that under Umayyad Caliphate. He write a book that became main refrencees at surgery, Al-Tashrifu Liman Ajiza Talif ( help for who have hardness understand big post). His book, contained 30 volumes that collect knowledge of medicine, pharmacology, and many topic from  medicine. According Palestinian Historian Jihad Turbani, at his book, Az-Zahrawi wrote about classification of diseases and about 325 diseases and also , bones medicine. 

Az-Zahrawi, became one palace doctor to Umayyad Caliph, Al-Hakam II. Az-Zahrawi also collab with Hasday Ibn Shaprut, Jews Rabbi and Doctor at Spain and also Byzantine Priest, Nicholas for translate one medicine script  to Arabic Language, Umayyad Caliphate Official Language. This script is Materia Medica that sended by Byzantine Emperor, Constantine VII to Umayyad Caliph, Abd Ar Rahman III. 

According Historian Philip.K.Hitti, Az-Zahrawi is biggest surgery doctor at this time, from Arabians People.  According  DR.Gassan Mahmud Washah, Palestinian Researcher from University Of Gaza, Palestine, Abu Qasim Az-Zahrawi make many inovation at surgery and he became one inovator at medicine at his time. From his inovation at surgery are ear, nose, eye and throat surgery. 

According DR.Gassan, Az-Zahrawi also tried to make medicine for  tumor , small and big and also find 200 surgical machines and instruments.  Az-Zahrawi s book, Al-Tasrif, translated to Latin by Gerard Of Cremona and several edition published at Venice , at 1497 AD, at Basel at 1541 AD,  and Oxford at 1778 AD.  This book, used as main refrence at medicine and surgery, at Europe s School, such as at Salerno, Montpellier, and several medicine school at Europe.

Az-Zahrawi, doesnt only write and applicated his new invention. He also emphasize good relation beetwen doctor and patients. According modern experiment, that cited by Jihad Turbani , good relation beetwen doctor and patients can advanced efectivity of medicine. 

Pietro Argallata, who die at 1453 AD, said: “No doubt, he  ( Az-Zahrawi ) is chief from all surgeon” .  According Al-Humaydi, Muslim Historian, Al-Zahrawi is man who has  virtue at knowledge and religion. 

According Ibn Khaldun, Muslim Historian, at the past, the most popular doctor is Galen, Roman Doctor  at 3 TH Century AD, who die at Sicily and ever meet Propeth Isa Alaihissalam. According Historian Donald Champbell, Az-Zahrawi method was defeat Galenos s theory and became medicine method for 500 years old at Europe.

Az-Zahrawi die at 1013 AD and his name make by Spain Goverment as name of way at City Of Cordova , his house with name “Calle Albucasis”. His contribution at medicine so many for modern world. May Allah bless him.
