Zayd Ibn Thabit: Intelectual A Era Of Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam

Today, we will discuss early Islamic intelectual at era of Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. He is Zayd Ibn Thabit, Quran Codificator and he also an language expert at his age.His role as Quran Codificator, is so important for early Islamic History age. And Quran that we read today, can codificated as book because his hardwork. Please read this article until end because we will discuss about  one Muslim Intelectual at Era Of Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam who codificated Quran  and became one first Muslim Scholar at Early Islamic History. Zayd came from Medina, Saudi Arabia and he originated from Tribes Of Najjar. When he was child, Zayd came to Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wassalam when Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  prepare army for Battle Of Badr.  He want join at Battle Of Badr, but Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam forbid him because he  still child and doesnt has many experience at battle.  Zayd  sad because Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s statement. But he think for became one Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam closefriend. It is way with knowledge and Quran Memorizing. Zayd s mother, An Nawar, proud to him because Zayd was memorized 17 surahs at Quran ( Islamic Holy Books). One day, An-Nawar bring Zayd to Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and said:

“Oh, messenger of Allah, it is our son, he was memorized 17 surahs at Quran and he can read it correctly  and he also clever at read and write. He want besides you with his talents”

Zayd recite Quran in front of Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam. His recitation is so good and he can recite  Quran according rules of Waqaf ( ruled at Quran Reading) and Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasalam accept Zayd to dedicate to him.  One day, Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam ask Zayd to learn Hebrew Language that used by Jews, because Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam need to write letter to Jewish and he cannot speak Hebrew.

Zayd learn Hebrew and he can speak Hebrew at short time.  Zayd became translatter when Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam write letter to Jews People. He also became revelation writter when Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam get revelation from Allah Subhanahuwataala. Zayd collect Quran verses that revelated by Allah to Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam . When Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam still alife, he became Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s secretary. And when Caliph Abu Bakr As-Shidiq , first caliph from Rashidun Caliphate ruled, he became Quran Codificator.

When Caliph Abu Bakr As-Shidiq ruled (632-634 AD). Caliph Abu Bakr As-Shidiq ask Zayd Ibn Thabit to collect Quran s fragment that written at stem of palm, white rock and Muslim s memory.  Zayd codificated Quranic s surahs according long and short of surahs. He also became Judge at era of Rashidun Caliphate. Rashidun Caliphs ask his argument to finish Islamic s law problem.

At Jabiyya, Palestine, Caliph Umar Ibn Khattab orated in front of people: :”Oh, people, if you will know about Quran, ask to Zayd Ibn Thabit and if you will know about Fiqh, ask to Muadh Ibn Jabal.

With his knowledge, Zayd doesnt arrogant. One day, Abdullah Ibn Abbas see Zayd when ride with his mounts and Ibn Abbas handled Zayd saddle and harness. Zayd said:  permit me, oh,  Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam  s cousin. Abdullah said: it is our method treat our scholar. Zayd kiss Abdullah s hand and he said:” It is our method respect to Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s family.

Zayd die at 45 H. When he die, Muslims cried him and Shahaba Abu Hurayrah said: “Today, big scholar from this community die, may Allah make Ibn Abbas as his successor.
