How Wahhabism Appear At History?

The word of “ Wahabi” often used at Indonesia for mentioned several persons who considered as”radical Muslims”. But, do you know, how Wahhabism appear at history? Is it true Wahhabism are radical sect at Islam? Who founder of Wahhabism? Where Wahhabism first appear at history? Ok, lets search it.

If we seen history, really, the name of “Wahabi” doesnt has historical roots. All started from an Arabian Scholar named Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab. He born at 1703 AD, at Najd, Saudi Arabia, and he memorized Koran ( Islamic Holy Book) since he was child and studied at Mecca, Medina, and Bashra. At 19 years old, he decide to preach at Arabia. He so surprised, Arabia , that became Land Of Propeth Muhammad Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam, became land of paganism. At Najd, people visit the tomb of Zayd Ibn Khattab, one of Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahaba, and they prayed to Zayd, also they worshi to tree that called tree of wolf. At Mecca, people do a ritual walk around Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s tomb, that you must know, in Islamic Teaching, it is called  Syirik( worship to other Allah).

Shaykh  Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahab eager advise the people to back worship to Allah such as Rasullullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam teach  to his follower. He advise, dont worship to tomb!it is not give you benefit! Important for you know, Shaykh  Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahab doesnt want founded new sects in Islam, he only want invite Muslims for back to really Islamic Teaching. But, he hostile from several people who get benefit from Muslims visit to tomb. Several Arabian Leaders also antagonize Shaykh Muhammad. Shaykh Muhammad went to one of land at Arabia, named Diriya. He preach at local ruler, Ibn Saud. Ibn Saud receive his preach and promise protect him. Shaykh Muhammad stay at Diriya and he teach Al-Quran, tafsir, fiqh, hadith, history, Arabic Language, and other knowledge. Many society receive his teaching. Shaykh  build several youngers with Islamic Knowledge and send them to preach at inland. People came to mosque after so long, mosque is very lonely, and they back do fasting of Ramadhan.

Shaykh write a book about Islamic Theology that called by Kitab At-Tauhid. The point, in his life, Shaykh only teach Islam according teaching of Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam and he doesnt named his circle with Wahabi. The title of Wahabi, according Shayikh Jihad Turbani, Palestinian Historian, appear from Shiites followers who doesnt receive Shaykh Muhammad  s teaching.

Ibn Saud  and Shaykh Muhammad do military campaign for united Arabian Tribes who doing opposition. At 1766 AD, Ibn Saud killed and his son, Abd Aziz take the power. At 1792 AD, Wahhab die and at 1802 AD, Abd Aziz attack the city of Karbala At Iraq and he kill 2000 Shites at this place. At 1804 AD, Abd Aziz attack Medina and Mecca. At Medina, he destroy shahaba s tombs and at Medina, he destroy Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s born place. At 1811 AD, Abd Aziz make a plan for attack Asia Minor, that under Ottoman Supremacy, but, at 1815 AD, Ottoman Empire defeat Abd Aziz  s army and they kill  Abd Aziz s son.

Shiites followers mocked  Shaykh Muhammad s followers as Wahabi, Shiites doesnt can forget, how Shaykh Muhammad s followers under Abd Aziz attack Karbala and kill 2000 Shiites Civilians. Until today, Muslims who attempt obey Islamic Sharia s full, sometimes mocked as Wahhabi.

What the lesson we can take from this story?

For friends are Muslims, the lesson is , if you want to preach, preach with good methode. Dont do violence or mocked other people, or spreading hatred, it is not wise method. If you doesnt wise at Preaching, the result is Islam increasingly mocked by his haters. If your brother doesnt match with our guide, Al-Quran and Sunnah, not the mean we must mocked and hated him. Lead him and awaken, Al-Quran and Sunnah is guide for achieve success at world and afterlife, If he doesnt receive our preach, dont forced him, pray to him and stay make a good for him. Be Muslim who love the peaches, doesnt Muslim who love hatred.
