Rufai Ibn Mihran: From Slave to Scholar.

Today, we will discuss about one figure at Islamic History who came from slave class, but can became big scholar at his age. He is one Persian Slave who convert to Islam and became Islamic Big Scholar. Ok, lets discuss it, because at this article, we will discuss about one Islamic History Figure who originated from slave society, but can became big scholar at this time.

Rufai Ibn Mihran aka Abu Al-Aliyah is one Persian Scholar who die at 712 AD. He is Persian and grown up here. When broke confrontation beetwen Persian Empire and Rashidun Caliphate, he improsined and enslaved by Muslim Army. He and several Persians became slave  from Muslim Residents at Bashra, Iraq. Rufai became slave from Muslim Woman from Tribes Of Tamim. He and his friends from Persian Slaves convert to Islam and studied read Quran ( Islamic Holy Book). He tell his difficult to read Quran until end to several Rasulullah Shallahu Alaihi Wasallam s shahabas.  Several shahabas said to Rufai and his friend: read Quran until end in a week, because Rufai and his friend cannot read Quran until end at one day, two day, or three day because their business work to their boss.

Rufai s boss, woman from Bani Tamim is clever and good Muslim Woman. Rufai work to his boss at noon time and he can read and write and studied about Islamic Religion at several time.  One day, his boss liberate Rufai and  after he became normal man, he went to Medina, Rashidun Caliphate Capital City. Rufai studied at several shahaba. He studied read Quran to Caliph Umar Ibn Khattab and studied hadith to Abdullah Ibn Masoud, Abdullah Ibn Abbas, Abu Ayyub Al-Anshary and other shahabas. He also studied to many people out of Medina.

Rufai became Islamic Teacher, he teach Quran to his students ad recommended they to memorized Quran five verses to five verses and Rufai advise his students to obey Islamic Sharia and make Quran as life guidebook.

At 657 AD, broke Battle Of Shiffin beetwen Caliph Ali  Ibn Abi Thalib and Muawiya Ibn Abi Sufyan , Governor Of Levant ( Syria, Palestine, and around it).  Rufai Ibn Mihran doesnt want join this war, because Muawiya and Ali are Muslims and he leave Ali and Muawiya, for understand this conflict, you can refer this article:

Abu Al-Aliyah Rufai Ibn Mihran join Muslim Army at battle againt Byzantine and Persian Empire at Levant and Central Asia. And, at 712 AD, he die because disease at his leg.

One day, when he sick at his legg and doctor came to give him medicine and this medicine use  pushers for amputation one Rufai s legg that  gnawed by disease. Rufai reject pushers and he ask doctor to came a Qari ( Quran Reader) who has good sound and he will run operation with hear Quran reading and when operation, he doesnt feel hurt.

At 93 H/712 AD, Rufai leave the world and he was leave for us a exemplarly: social status not  barrier for achieve success.
