When Gontor Islamic Boarding School Attacked by Communist Party
Today, i will share a short story
about actual even, when Gontor s students escape from Communist Party s romp,
and it is one from many inspirational story of student s life at Islamic Boarding
School. But, before read this article, please subscribe my blog for more

At 1948 AD, Gontor Islamic Boarding
School s existencion threatened by the
rise of PKI ( Partai Komunis Indonesia/ Communist Party Of Indonesia).
At 18 September 1948 AD, Musso,
Leader Of PKI, proclaimed Soviet State Of Indonesia with capital at Madiun. The
Communist Party attack Islamic Boarding Schools at East Java and they murdered
168 people, and also they kill Kyai (Islamic Boarding School Leader) at
Islamic Boarding School at Takeran, Magetan. And, Communist Party want attack
Islamic Boarding School Of Gontor.
Three Gontor s leaders: K.H.Imam
Zarkasyi, K.H. Ahmad Sahal, and K.H.Rahmat Soekarto deliberated how save Gontor
s students from Communist Party, and they decide, K.H. Imam Zarkasyi and
K.H.Ahmad Sahal will refuuge with their students and K.H.Rahmat Soekarto keep
Islamic Boarding School. A day after students refugee, Communist Party came at
Islamic Boarding School, they shoot their gun to Islamic Boarding School to
know, is at Islamic Boarding School exist students and teacher. Communist commander meet with K.H.Rahmat in
the front of his house and he scatter K.H.Rahmat, after this, Communist Army
entered students dormitory and they burned several Holy Koran and Islamic
Books. They call K.H.Rahmat and threat him that they want kill him if
K.H.Rahmat doesnt out from his house.
After this, Hizbullah Army and
Siliwangi Army ( a group from TNI / Indonesian National Forces) came to Islamic
Boarding School under K.H.Yusuf Hasyim, som from K.H. Hasyim Asyari, and forced
Communist Army retreat from Islamic Boarding School.
And, students group under K.H.Ahmad
Sahal and K.H.Imam Zarkasyi refugee to Trenggalek, exist 70 students that want
refugee to Trenggalek, they suffered deficiency of food, and they chased by
Communist Party, K.H.Imam Zarkasyi and his group captured by Communist Party
and they prisoned at Ponorogo without complete clothes, only with a sheet of
cloth and the food only boil yam. Two Gontor s’ student, Ghozali Anwar and Imam
Badri tortured by Communist Party, but K.H.Ahmad Sahal, K.H.Imam Zarkasyi, and
their student still patient.
The factor of Communist Party s
attack to the Gontor Islamic Boarding School is they accuse this Islamic
Boarding School as base from Hizbullah Army, one of Islamic Military at
Indonesia in this time, at 22 september
1948 AD, Vice President Of Indonesia, Mohammad Hatta, moved Indonesian National
Army to defeat Communist Party, Siliwangi Army moved to Madiun and defeat
Communist Force, and Indonesian National Army under Abdul Choliq Hasyim ( Son
from K.H.Hasyim Asyari). Gontor s students savely back to their Islamic
Boarding School.
The lesson from this history,
patient bring the goodness, keep patient when facing the problem, because patient, is power in facing
the problem.
